2024-02-05 M45 Pleiades

Another mid-city shoot, this time M45. I'm still exploring how to best capture deep sky object areas with intense light pollution like Oslo, and M45 was a good target after my last attempt at M42.

My focus was much better this time, with no obvious halos, so that's nice. However, you can probably see the "black hole" in the image. That's just dirt on the lens, allowing less light to pass through in that area.

Exposure Grid

The images in the following grid are created by stacking an increasing amount of light frames. All stacks have been auto-stretched by Siril with no further processing.

It is interesting to see how the details slowly come to light as a function of exposure. The most noticable gain is clearly up to one hour, but it is clear that I could have kept going for longer.
