2023-01-26 C/2022 E3 (ZTF)

Another attempt at C/2022 E3 (ZTF). This is only 6 days later than the previous attempt, but the comet is closing rapidly and changes every day, so I'll take any attempt at this once in a lifetime experience.

Quite different result than the previous attempt. I gave my Canon EOS 700D a go this time, and it is interesting to see how it compares to my usual Fujifilm X-T1 in how it handles noise and color.

While the comet is much closer and exposed for 6 times as long, not much more detail is resolved in the tail. There also seems to be more noise in the form of strong diagonal banding. This is a huge tradeoff with the Canon, and something the ISO-invariant Fujifilm handles much better in my experience.

Location

At the time of capture, 2023-01-26, the estimated magnitude is 8.23, and the comet can be found close to the tip of the big dipper, around Ra14h38m/Dec+68°54' [source], quite a bit higher in the sky than last time.
